Beyond Nomad In Transylvania: Discovering Amazing Remote Work Events

Looking for your next remote work adventure? I'm sharing 5 events and retreats that will inspire, connect, and transform your lifestyle.

So, you've checked out the events I put on, right? Well, the thing is, for the last year or so, I've been to tons of other nomad events around the world. And when I say "nomad," I don't just mean those Insta-perfect travelers. I'm talking about anyone working online – employees, freelancers, entrepreneurs. At these gatherings, I've met many incredible people, including some truly inspiring event organizers. I wanted to share five unique event concepts that have particularly resonated with me, and I think you might find them interesting too.

1. AVNEA - nomad village: Live & Work in a Village

AVNEA - nomad village, which is one of my absolute favorites. They organize retreats in villages around the world, starting in Mexico and now focusing more on Greece. For a month, people from all over the globe gather in Greek villages where they work together, grow together, and explore the local culture. And let's be honest, who wouldn't love to work surrounded by the sea, stunning landscapes, delicious food, and people from all corners of the world? The founder of AVNEA is Lotus, a very passionate and dedicated woman. Recently, she launched The Village- online community, organizing online meetups for her community. I highly recommend checking out her project and following her on social media to stay updated on her events. Lotus is also a co-founder of the Athens Nomad Fest, with the next event happening at the end of September this year.

2. Founders Amsterdam Retreat

Another project I really liked is Amsterdam Founders Club. I first saw Marcel, the organizer, at Nomad Cruise, but we really connect last December at the Island Nomad Fest in Madeira. He caught my attention because I had already started organizing dinners in Bucharest for entrepreneurs, and it turns out Marcel has been doing something similar for a long time. Once a year, he hosts a Founder’s Retreat focused on personal and business development.

The next event is at the end of May, in the Netherlands, and the location is something truly special, a former monastery. It’s a good chance to connect with experienced entrepreneurs, gain new insights, and make meaningful connections that could really help move your business forward. Many successful entrepreneurs are invited, so it’s a great opportunity to learn from and network with people who have been where you are now.

3. Remote 9: Road Trip With a Twist

And one of the most unique projects I’ve come across is Remote 9, founded by Andreas. Andreas was one of the first people I met when I started organizing events. The concept behind Remote 9 is very interesting: imagine nine people in the same van, traveling together for several weeks, on the same route that can sometimes span several countries. For example, they just finished their adventure in Australia, where they spent three weeks in a bus with nine people from all over the world. They worked, explored, and experienced something unique together. Apparently, it was a blast because they're doing the bus thing again in Australia. Plus, they're planning a sailing trip across the Atlantic. Give them a follow to see what they're up to.

4. The Viomati Co: Business Retreats You'll Love

Another inspiring experience is The Viomati Co, created by Manon and Kevin. I had the pleasure of meeting them last year at the “Island Nomad Fest” in Madeira. Their retreats are designed for entrepreneurs and business who want to grow personally and professionally. Hosted in Madeira and Morocco, these retreats emphasize unique accommodations and exceptional culinary experiences. What really sets them apart is their focus on helping members find clarity, build meaningful connections, and gain unstoppable momentum in their business journeys. If you're interested in entrepreneurship and cultural immersion, their upcoming events are in June in Madeira and November in Morocco. Here's a link to their project, maybe you'll want to go!

5. Sinaia Work + Play

And finally, a project close to home, a workation organized right here in Romania, in partnership with Ola la Homes. This event happens twice yearly, in June and November, and is similar to what I do, just on a much larger scale. I’ve attended both editions so far and will most likely join the next one in June.

If you’re interested in working while enjoying the beautiful of Sinaia, I highly recommend checking their website. It’s a perfect opportunity to connect with fellow remote workers, unwind, and get inspired in one of Romania’s most beautiful locations.

Attending events allows me to meet people from all corners of the world who are doing amazing things. I'm happy to share their work here because I know how difficult it is to gather people from all over the globe. So, check them out, meet some new people, and maybe find your next adventure. Let's help each other, have fun, and build a great nomad community, no matter where we are.
